Our Story

Joyal Pararajasingam’s journey begins in the rural Northern region of Sri Lanka, where he grew up as part of a Tamil farming family. From a young age, Joyal worked alongside his father on their family farm, cultivating crops like cassava—an essential staple in Sri Lankan cuisine that provides nourishment to families across all income levels.

In 1987, Joyal’s life was profoundly affected by the civil conflict in the region. His family was forced to leave behind their home and farm, facing significant challenges, including the tragic loss of his father. Despite these hardships, Joyal carried forward the values his father had instilled in him— hard work, dedication to sustainable farming, and the belief that healthy, accessible food can uplift communities.

After relocating multiple times, Joyal was able to start a new life in Canada 26 years ago, where he embraced new opportunities and built a future for his family. Yet, his father’s vision continued to inspire him. Joyal’s father had always believed that food should do more than just feed—it should nourish both the body and soul, and be accessible to people from all walks of life. Even in difficult times, he worked tirelessly to improve the quality of their produce, driven by the dream of providing wholesome, affordable food.

This vision became the foundation for Fitbite Chips. Joyal, along with friends who shared the same passion and vision, founded Fitbite to honor his father’s legacy and commitment to offering healthy, natural food to a broader audience. Fitbite Chips is more than a business—it’s a tribute to Joyal’s roots, his family’s dedication to sustainable farming, and a promise to deliver products that carry love, care, and trust in every bite.
